Desire Tree

Nino Surguladze founded a charity foundation “Desire Tree” and on July 10 a debut event – a charity concert-marathon – will be held under its aegis. Nino Surguladze organized arrival of world-known opera singers to Tbilisi and they will sing for young people who require emergency medical treatment.

The evening will be held in the Conservatory big concert hall and Symphony Orchestra of Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre will participate free of charge. The marathon will be aired by Georgian Broadcasting Company “Imedi” and Eka Khoperia will be emcee of the concert. “Imedi” was actively involved in organizational process of the event.

The musicians assist little Nikusha Vashakidze who has a rare mixed form of cystic fibrosis. Many people have this disease in Georgia but Nikusha is the only one who is hooked up to the breathing machine; Nino Chikovani – the Conservatory student, Nino Surguladze’s colleague, mezzo-soprano was diagnosed with a rare disease – arteriovenous malformation; Naniko Toronjadze (11 year old girl) who has Ewing’s sarcoma (she is from “Dimitri Tsintsadze’s Fund”), Vitali Kilasonia (16 year old boy) has a brain tumor (“Dimitri Tsintsadze’s Fund”) and 10 year old Beka Berishvili who has a mediastinal tumor (Dimitri Tsintsadze’s Fund).
